When the enemy brings guilt into our life it is usually about something we did in our past or our present. He will use our mistakes and deceive us into thinking we either aren’t good enough for what God is calling us to do, or we may fear that whatever has been done in the past or present will happen in the future.

But one thing we need to remember when it comes to what may happen in the future we need to remember that when we rely on God, He can change our hearts. In Him and only Him we have hope to live life abundantly.

We are not what we have done in the past or the present. Right now we are who we are in Christ. Our future hasn’t been written yet. Don’t let the enemy deceive you into thinking that your past will determine your future. God will determine your future, and the more you build your relationship with Him the closer you will become to His will for your life.

How can we move on from our sin?

“And it shall be, when he is guilty in any of these matters, that he shall confess that he has sinned in that thing; Lev 5:5 (NKJV)

Well it is clear in the Bible that we need to first confess our sins to the Lord, and through the blood of Christ we have been forgiven. We just need to believe that Christ died for our sins.

When we first became a Christian this is what we did, however that doesn’t mean we will never have to ask for forgiveness again. As we grow in our relationship with the Lord we will begin to see the specific sin in our life and be able to give that sin over to the Lord.

Sin doesn’t disqualify us from moving forward with God’s plan for our life, it is the pride of never confessing and continuing in the sin that keeps us from Him.

We should never feel guilty for the sins that we have already confessed and that God has already forgiven. God does not use guilt to guide and lead us, He uses conviction.

When it comes down to it, the enemy can’t make us feel guilty. The guilt is a result of our choice to believe the enemy’s deception and lies, rather than believing in the word of God. Through the blood of Christ we have been forgiven, all we need to learn to do is confess & repent of our sins, and this requires daily obedience to the Lord.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, R3 the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Col 1:13-15 (NKJV)

Assignment:

What sins are you holding onto? Are you going to ask the Lord to forgive your sins? Will you allow Him to change your heart so you can move forward in what He has planned for your life? Do you feel that the guilt and shame is your punishment for your sin? According to the Bible is it our place to punish ourselves?
