And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:11-12
When we learn to love God we begin to believe in God’s promises no matter what our circumstances may be.
The fact is that this world is full of bad circumstances. There are going to be many times where we need to trust that no matter what happens, God is good.
Honestly doing today’s study is difficult for me. I feel like I don’t really know what to say. Sure I know that God is good. I know that all things work toward the glory of God. I know as Christians we aren’t immune to sin, nor are we exempt from experiencing various trials.
There are so many things I don’t understand. I don’t know why some parents need to suffer the loss of a child. I don’t know why bad things are allowed to happen to good people. I don’t know why some couple’s can’t have children while others have several.
There are so many things I can’t explain. I can’t explain cancer, abuse, murder, or neglect. I’m sure there are explanations for all of these, but why some people have to endure these types of trials, and others don’t, I can’t explain this.
But through all of this I know God is good.
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8(NKJV)
The LORD is good to all, And His tender mercies are over all His works. Psalm 145:9(NKJV)
I know that nothing done in His name is in vain.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58(NKJV)
I know that we all can experience a happy ending if we just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. Psalm 34:22(NKJV)
I know that God will protect those who fear Him.
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. Psalm 34:7 (NKJV)
I know that when we seek His will, He will freely reveal it.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 (NKJV)
I know that no matter what God is always there.
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)
And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV)
As I grow in my walk with the Lord, I cling to His promises more and more.
Loving God and believing in His promises doesn’t mean we will have all the answers to life’s difficult questions. It just means that we can be confident in who we are in Christ no matter what our circumstances may be.
Assignment:
What are some circumstances in your life that are keeping you from turning to God? – Seek prayer about these things.
