Planning Out My Schedule

September 20, 2008 · Print This Article

Last week I wrote about how I would start journaling my Time Management Journey here on CSAHM. Well this week I started working on a schedule.

In the e-book Time Management for Moms - it gives really good instructions on how to plan out a schedule. I actually did what the book said and it worked. I think the main element I was missing before when it came to planning out a schedule is assigning each “to do” to a theme.

For example, the weekend is my time to get errands and house cleaning done. If I don’t get those things done on the weekend then my week feels like complete and total chaos. Well yesterday (Friday) I decided to use the tips I learned and apply it to my to do list for the weekend.

I first just made a list of all the things I would like to get accomplished. Then once that list was complete I divided the items into two different lists, one was for everything I needed to do outside of the house and the other was what I needed to do at home.

I have to say so far it has worked well! It is easier to be able to look at this list and just check everything off, and some how it makes life easier and I am a lot more productive.

All next week I will actually be working on the next step to scheduling and that is to time myself doing certain tasks. I know I always think something is going to take 15 minutes but it turns into 20-30 minutes, or I think something is going to take an hour but it only takes 15 minutes. I know timing myself will really help me to get a grasp on just how long it actually takes me to do something.

If you would like to start your own journey to become more efficient and productive with your time, then pick up the e-book Time Management for Moms today and join me!
