Christmas Meme

I saw this meme over at A Walk Through the Valley and thought it would be fun! So here goes:

1 . Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?

Hot chocolate, never tried egg nog.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

We usually leave one present unopened under the tree then wrap the other presents.

3. Colored lights on house/tree or white?

White all around. I’m less traditional like that, I grew up in a house with colored lights and I have always wanted white.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

No, we don’t decorate much. Mainly just the tree.

5. When do you put your decorations up?

The Monday before Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite Christmas dish (excluding dessert)?

Umm, I really love having ham on Christmas.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?

Just waking up and seeing all the presents under the tree. Also I would “spend the night” in my sisters room. :)

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

Ummm…I think i kind of knew when I was in school and the kids were like Santa’s not real.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

Nope.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?

Well first our tree is 9ft tall! So hubby puts the white lights on, then he does the garland which is red. Then we add our ornaments which are red, white, gold, silver, and green bulbs plus special ornaments like the ones the kids make, their first Christmas ornaments, my Disney ornaments, and ornaments that were given as gifts. But we usually do the bulbs first by color, we are really methodical on how we decorate the tree, LOL!

11. Snow. Love it or dread it?

Me and snow have a love hate relationship. LOL!

12. Can you ice skate?

Yes, but I haven’t done so in a really long time.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

Well, there have been so many. I’m not sure I have a favorite.

14. What is the most important thing about the holidays for you?

Just reflecting how much God loves us and being thankful for the sacrifice He made to humble himself and become human and our savior. He is truly a giving God!

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?

Christmas cookies. My mom bakes the best Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, and Sugar Cookies EVER!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Just spending time with the family. We usually play games on Christmas Day and it’s a lot of fun. My Uncle is like a genius at “Clue.”

17. What tops your Christmas tree?

Well we have always had a star. When we purchased our first Christmas tree and decorations 8 years ago I bought just a plain clear star that lit up with white lights. But it finally burnt out this year so I bought another star and it looks like the Bethlehem star, it’s pretty.

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?

GIVING, I want next Christmas to only be about giving but not sure how much the kids will like that. But we’ll see.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song?

Silent Night

20. Candy Canes. Yum or Yuck?

Yum!

21. What do you want for Christmas?

Nothing really. I bought a new cell phone not to long ago and that is suppose to be my Christmas present. My husband is the giving type and even though I don’t care if there is a present under the tree for me, actually I would prefer that, he still likes to give presents. Which I can understand that because I like to give presents too. So who knows he might get me something else.

22. Do you attend an annual Christmas party?

Yes, actually my husbands Christmas party at the Fire Department is breakfast with Santa, they do this because they feel they pull the Fireman away from their families enough during the year so the party is for the whole family. Which I think is awesome!

Then we host a party at our house on Christmas Eve. :)

23. Do you dress up for Christmas Eve or wear PJ’s?

We get dressed, not really dress up, but we attend church on Christmas Eve and have a party so I’m thinking PJ’s is not a good choice of clothing. lol!

24. Do you own a Santa hat?

No. :/

25. Who do you normally spend Christmas with?

Well Christmas is a busy day like Thanksgiving. We spend it with my mom & dad, sister, brother in law, niece, my Uncle, my husbands mom & dad, my sister in law, his grandmother, his 2 uncles, his aunt, and LOTS of cousins on the hubby’s side.

Some times it can be overwhelming having to spend Christmas in three different places (our house, my parents house, & my husbands family) but in all reality it’s awesome. I remember growing up and spending Christmas & Thanksgiving without my extended family so I feel blessed that my kids get to spend Christmas & Thanksgiving with both sides of the family!
