Victory!

So here I am, sitting on the computer because I can’t sleep again. Actually last night I did go to bed early, I was so exhausted and I slept very well. But all day today I have been in tears, thoughts, and prayers. Just trying to make sense of it all and even look into how we can still have victory over protecting biblical truth, morals, our family, and so much more.

I started the day off very angry and offended. Then automatically turned to defense mode. I truly felt that a decision had been made that would effect MY children in a negative way, and that brought me to tears. But of course my husband reminded me that our children are not in the hands of a one man but they are in the hands of God because we have placed them there through prayer. My children belong to the Lord and their future is planned by Him and only Him.

One of the many amazing things I have experienced today amidst all my tears, (believe me there have been so many), I have seen so many Christians say they feel the same way. It’s like all of us who voted for what was right could feel something shift, something change, and we just knew something not good just took place. We *just knew*, and I think that’s amazing because it tells me that God is still in control, and we are not alone because we have the Lord and we have each other.

Another wonderful thing is happening, I have heard SO many Christians say “I am praying.” Praying for our new President, praying for our country, and just praying, praying, praying. People are getting back into scripture, it’s truly amazing and all happened in one day.

I have to say I AM the praying type but still had never prayed so much as I have in the past two days, and I see those many prayers, which may seem small, to be a huge victory for the Lord. There is more power in that one prayer than there will ever be in that one vote, or one person.

Lastly I have seen so many Christians rise up and say we are not defeated. We may have lost a battle but we are not done fighting for what’s right. More Christians are finally hearing God call them to action. I know I have. I heard it about a month before, and now I hear it even more clear! We need to take our fight to the mission field, and we need to meet people where they are at and make a difference right there on the streets. The battle is not over.

I was listening to a teleconference tonight for the proLIFE movement and they made a very good point. They said the abortions are not taking place in the White House or in the Senate. They are taking place right there in YOUR community. If nothing else I feel strongly we need to respond to the call God has placed on our hearts and serve right there on the mission field and serve our community in order to protect the unborn, our RIGHTS, and our FAITH.

Now with all that being said I want to point out that even though we have lost the battle for the White House, there have been MANY more victories right there in your own backyard. I encourage you to look at who got elected at the state level and rejoice for every victory, because local Government matters just as much as who the President of the United States is. I think that if we take a closer look at what happened Tuesday night on the local level we will see that not all is lost.

God did succeed, He still has the victory!

    Heather,

This is awesome! I had goose bumps reading it! I echos EVERYTHING my husband and my friends have been discussing since the election (and before). Praises to the KIng of Kings and the Lord of Lords who will ALWAYS be in control!

I think we all wrestled yesterday. It took me the day to figure out what and why I was feeling what I was. And as a young man reminded yesterday …. God is large and in charge. He’s got our backs!! =)

  4. Dianna says:

Your right. We have so many ways to stand up. We still have the ability to contact our local and state representatives so that our voice is heard. We still have the right to contact our Senators when things are on the agenda that we don’t like AND we still have the right to a peaceful petition. Thank God that we still have rights. People forget that Obama only has limited powers granted. He does not have ultimate power. He is a man and men can change by the power of God. Prayer can work miracles and I pray that God turns that mans heart.

Heather – you’re exactly right. And maybe it took something this serious to shake us up and really put us on our knees and on our faces. No government is established without God’s knowledge, and He bends His ear to His children when they call. It is time we all stood up for our faith – not because it’s comfortable or easy, but because it is threatened. Let people call us crazy or narrow minded – we have to stand for the name of the one who died for us, Jesus Christ. God allowed evil kings in Israel because the people turned from Him. And when His people repented and cried for help – He was there in an instant. Whether he affects our government or our time on this earth – HE IS THE VICTOR. Woohoo!!!

Thank you Heather for that. I am so thankful that people are getting back into prayer and scripture. It brings me to tears.
You are absolutely right about the abortion issue. It is in our own communities and that is where we with “I am” in us can make our difference.
    Blessings

I do think that our God is a much bigger God than so many people of our country tend to realize. I believe He has great plans for this season and for the ultimate return of His beloved son. However, my heart goes out to the many Americans today who don’t know who God is mainly because our society and government has been pushing Him out of our country for over 50 years now. I fear for the thousands of young girls lining up at the clinics because they have been lied to and told that there is not yet life inside them. My heart breaks at the thought of the hundreds of our sons’ and daughters’ faith that are crushed by college professors who insist that evolution is fact and anyone who believes in a creator God is not only wrong, but un-intelligent as well. Even worse, I fear for the day when God looks at America and can’t find even one believer left who will acknowledge who He is. I believe there will be dark days ahead, and I am left wondering if we as believers are ready for it.

  9. Charla says:

A few months ago, I would have been really upset about the way the election turned out. But after going through a Bible study with friends this summer called “Believing God” and then being in the middle of a Bible study right now on the book of Daniel, I have such peace even though the election didn’t turn out the way I had hoped it would. I know that God’s in control and I don’t need to worry!
Who knows, there may be some tough days ahead for Christians. But we grow stronger though trials and I believe God will open doors for Christians to share their faith. I’m already starting to see it happen!
We have opportunities to share with people one on one about our faith, about being pro-life (I wrote a post about that this week that has 3 good, reputable links to share with people that I think are impressive links), and about God’s design for marriage. My prayer is that God will open our eyes to see these opportunities and that we will share in love to those people.
