The Greatest Gift of All Is Jesus

With all the busyness of the holiday season and its emphasis on gift giving and gift buying, it’s all too easy to forget that Jesus is the greatest gift from the Father. James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.”

Jesus is the long awaited Savior, who was prophesied to come in the book of Genesis, when God told the serpent that He would put enmity between it and the seed of the woman. While the serpent would strike His heel (by His crucifixion) ultimately Jesus would crush his head (when He was resurrected).

Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection…

  • We are children of God.
  • He calls us His friends.
  • We have been justified.
  • We have been bought with a price and belong to God.
  • We are members of the Body of Christ.
  • We are chosen by God and adopted as His children.
  • We have been redeemed and forgiven of all our sins.
  • We are overcomers.
  • We receive eternal life!

Knowing these truths should cause us to rejoice no matter what the circumstances of the holiday may hold. The expectations of a perfect holiday can be overwhelming to fulfill. In a fallen world, no Christmas will ever be perfect. Until Jesus returns, there will be struggles with finances, sicknesses and death.

Let’s give thanks to our Lord and Savior for His incomprehensible gift of redemption. We can honor him throughout the year by loving each other, reaching out to the poor in spirit in His name, and remembering His death.

I hope you all have a very Merry CHRISTmas and enjoy your time with your family! God Bless you!
