This month’s theme at CSAHM is hope. When my life seems hopeless, prayer is a lifeline. It reminds me of what’s true and who holds the world. It draws me to my Savior and away from relying on my own strength. Today I wanted to share a prayer I wrote for those days when we feel like we have no hope.
Dear Father in Heaven,
I come before you today with a heavy heart. Life is out of control and I can’t get a handle on it. There is so much uncertainty. In fact, some days I am downright scared.
What if I can’t do it? What if I can’t even make it through the day? The future seems so dim. Scripture calls you the “Light of the World”, would you please light my way right now?
I feel hopeless, but in my mind I know I am not. I ask that you remind my heart of the great hope I have because of your son Jesus. Bring this hope to bear in my life right now. Help me to see and believe this hope no matter what my circumstances tell me.
Forgive me for not keeping my eyes on you. I know I’ve been so focused on my life’s circumstances that, like Peter, I’ve turned my gaze from you and to the crisis in my life. I pray that today, you would help me to look to you alone to be my strength, my rock, my fortress.
I thank you, Jesus, for bearing my deepest fears and burdens on the cross. Because isn’t eternity apart from you the worst thing I could ever fear? I thank you for saving me and rescuing me from sin. Because of your great love, I now have the hope of eternity with you. Help me to cling to that hope today.
You are the source of all hope and it’s in you that I find my rest today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
