Tuesdays Tip Jar: Cereal Savings

May 27, 2008 · Print This Article

OK so my tip for this week is this. When buying cold cereal I like to buy a “base” cereal like plain old Cheerios - no flavoring - just the good old fashioned boring Cheerios. Then to spice it up I mix in a 1/3 of a box of flavored Cheerios like the fruity Cheerios, or even honey nut Cheerios. This actually helps save money and cuts down on the amount of sugar your kids eat.

You can add any flavored cereal to the mix, just be sure to start with a base cereal that doesn’t have a whole lot of sugar. I like the plain Cheerios because you can get a huge box for a great price, and store brand is usually sufficient for me.
