Critism in the Marriage

by Dionna Sanchez

It’s a critical world we live in. And that criticism can slide into our homes so easily.

Marriage is meant to be teamwork. Sometimes one part of that team is weaker than the other side. We all do more than our fair share to contribute at times. But when we start to “nit pick” on our spouse; then we are breaking down the very thing our marriage needs to survive! Part of being a team is having good communication with each other. You learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses and pick up the slack when it is needed. You do this simply out of love.

Criticism is so harmful that it’s like a computer virus. Once it’s in your home it tends to spread into every area infecting the whole house! Your children will pick up on it and no one will feel good about themselves or encouraged. Is that the kind of home you want? I’ve also seen husbands and wives who are critical of each other in front of others. It breaks my heart because I can see what that does to them as the emotions are written all over that person’s face. It’s one thing to be critical in your own home (and that’s something that should be worked on) but when a spouse is critical to the other in public; the damage done to the individual and the marriage tends to go deeper because of the humiliation involved. You need to keep your grievances behind closed doors and from there, pledge to put a stop to criticism for good!

No marriage is perfect and we all have areas we need to work on. But those methods should include gentleness, patience, honesty, openness, encouragement, and prayer. If you really want some things to change in your marriage, then you need to work together on them and support one another. Don’t drag each other down with verbal darts but instead lift up and inspire change by believing in one another.
no enjoys being criticized or they measure up someone else’s expectations of them so if like feeling that way don’t do it to one you love the most>
