No doubt you have groaned at the soaring prices of groceries these days. With the economy on the downturn, we are all finding new ways to save on grocery bills. Here are a few suggestions that you may find helpful.
There are a myriad of online coupon sites wherein you can print out generic coupons for use at local supermarkets. Checking the supermarket circular every week can also help reduce some of the cost.
Check the Sunday papers; there is always a coupon booklet inserted that can save you money on your next trip to the supermarket. In addition, most local supermarkets always have sales. If you stock up on the sale items, you can significantly save money in the long run.
Shop at your local farmer’s market where, by establishing a relationship with the owner, you can benefits from savings on fresh vegetables and meat.
Buying generic products can save you quite a bit of money. Most of the products are somewhat equal to premium brands, but if you choose to buy generic for items such as paper and canned goods, the savings is immeasurable.
Clubs such as BJs and Costco, where you can buy in bulk, is another way you can save money on groceries. While it is a bother to box your own items, it is nonetheless worth the savings.
Another way to save money on groceries is to plan your menu a month ahead of time. In this way, you will buy only those items you need and can spend a Saturday preparing the meals, freezing them, and having them ready for your family’s dinner. It does work!
