I wouldn't stress... I have talked to ALOT of moms who homeschool who do no more then read to their child daily, inroll them in a few community classes, answer the constint questions 6yr olds ask, play PBS or other education videos for their children, and take them out on feild trips (park, museam, library, anywere even simi-education). Just through these things alone a child learns ALOT and gets way more love and attention then they ever would at public school :)

Hmmm.....my 6yr daughter is begging me to homeschool her this coming fall. I don't really think she understands what it involves, but still she is quite serious about it. the thought scares me to death. And I think in the back of my mind, "could I do this?"... I don't know.....I have family that says I couldn't make it work b/c I have a 9m old son.

Anyway. it is encouraging to hear from other Moms that are actually doing it! I need to do alot of praying about this!!

Courtney, that's great you have a co-op there. Homeschooling is challenging but so rewarding. :)

I have never had the urge or desire to homeschool my kids but we recently joined a homeschool preschool coop through our local moms group and it has been wonderful. Will I only host and teach once a month, it has opened my eyes to the possibilities.

I love to hear that other moms are already excited and planning! I got all of my books in early March and have spent the last three months planning VERY slowly! I love it! I squeeze in a few minutes here and there while my girls are doing their independent work - previewing a book, scheduling math, making a list of picture books to add in.

I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most is that my toddler is turning into a preschooler, which means he'll be more of an involvement than a distraction. I think that's going to be such fun!
