Christian Book Review: The Woman of Mystery

I had heard about the book, The Woman of Mystery: Unveiling the Secret to True Romance
, and that it was making some waves.  Not a romance novel, but rather a “manual” of sorts for finding romance in your life.

Overview

Now girls, I don’t know too many women who don’t really (even deep down) want romance.  I think we all have our own opinion and perspective of romance, but we were DESIGNED by our Creator for an intimate love, and in our limited terms “Romance” seems to be the key.

Hayley DiMarco tackles a topic that is not easy to cover.  “What women want and how to get it” is a subject that many books  have been written about – and information search on this matter seems to be at an all time high.

And yet so many women are left empty…  searching…  disappointed…  Mrs. DiMarco introduces us to The Woman of Mystery – who not only lives a full life, but revels in the love she so deeply longs for.

Touching on a variety of characteristics including her Essence, her Love, her Style, and even her Waiting, the Woman of Mystery becomes something tangible, and ultimately, attainable.  For it is not the Desire of the Woman of Mystery that matters;  it is the Object of her Desire that brings fulfillment and the love she always wanted.

My Review

After recently reading Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul
, by John and Stasi Eldredge, I found it just a bit difficult to dig into this book.  While their subject matter is similar, they travel along parallel lines, and intersect at meaningful and Scriptural points.  Once I got further into the book, I realized that the truths expressed and shared were simple and yet profound.

The chapter on Her Essence is really full of information, and I did not rush through it.  I took some time reading and digesting what was written and found it to have greater impact.  My favorite statement is:

When you start to believe that nothing happens to you except what God can and will use for your benefit, then you can learn to accept everything as a way to draw closer to the true romance God has for you.

In a world, desperate for romance and connection, too many options are available that lead to unsatisfying, and even devastating, results.  Whether you grew up with a fairy-tale dream that just didn’t come true, or married your Prince Charming only to find out he was a frog underneath that “tall, dark, and handsome” – becoming a Woman of Mystery is more about finding True Romance to last your lifetime.

Think about whether you believe that true romance with your Savior could have the power to change your heart, to give you another chance at the romance you used to believe in.

That statement is the ultimate challenge of this book.  And I have found myself challenged by reading it.
