This definition sounds a bit serious, doesn’t it?!  We think so! At The Little Card Company, we believe a contest should be defined by the amount of fun, creativity and inspiration involved… and, of course, there must be some very appealing rewards for the winners!

Here’s a little change of pace for the typical book review.  Rather than giving a straightforward “review” per se, I thought I’d just let you know more about this book, so you can get entered into a giveaway for one (1) Christian Stay at Home Moms reader!

Recipes & Recollections from The Better Baker

I’ll be honest – I was really excited to get my hands on my own copy of this cookbook.  I collect cookbooks – love cookbooks – and really enjoy the personal touches that a lot of cookbooks contain.

But this cookbook has more meaning for me personally, because The Better Baker is my mom, Marsha.  I personally know and am familiar with a good number of recipes that were included in this cookbook, because I grew up with a lot of them.  These recipes are – for the most part – easy to make and budget friendly.  We grew up on a tight budget and my mom has a GIFT for cooking – and so many of the meals she made were not only nutritious, but enjoyed by all of us around the dinner table.  I learned to cook by making several of these dishes, and some of the recipes are from dear friends and family from decades of relationships.

My mom was inspired to write this cookbook after many friends & family members encouraged her – for many years – to put her favorite recipes together into one collection.  She included the story of her own parents and memories from family members recalling my Grandma King’s Christian legacy.  My grandma was a consummate seamstress – and because my mom did not enjoy sewing, she spent time in the kitchen cooking & baking and developing her own gift for serving others.

My Review

I have to admit my eyes teared up several times during this wonderful documentary.

I got emotional for two reasons:

1. Not only is this movie, but science itself, and nature, is just one of the most profound pieces of evidence that God truly DOES exist. While observing the magnificent earth He created, I am often taken to deeper spiritual depths in my walk with Him and often times during these moments my emotions get the best of me.
2. I often wonder if we truly understand the whole story behind Evolution, and how contradictory it is to the Bible, and the LOVE of the Lord. Not only that, but we believe in this theory without true understanding and we allow our children to be taught this theory as well. It makes me sad to think of all the things Charles Darwin, and his theory of evolution, have influenced in the history of man.

As I finished watching The Mysterious Islands I became even MORE passionate about God, the Bible, and my salvation through Jesus Christ. It stirred in me the same feelings I had when I began homeschooling my oldest daughter.

Even more so it reminded me of a time in my own life where my perception of God was of a mean and vengeful God, and I denied Him because I wanted to believe in love and mercy. But the more I get to know the Lord, the more I realize He is the God I had always wished for. I just wish everyone else could see just how amazing He really is.

Through His creation we see His hand at work, always. The Mysterious Islands is a great documentary that shows when we bring the Bible with us on our scientific journey, we find more answers than we do questions, and we often find a great boost in our faith and belief in God. If your faith is ever wavering, just look around you and you will KNOW that there is a God.

I really enjoyed The Mysterious Islands, and look forward to sharing this DVD with my family and friends!

My Review

I really enjoyed this series and so did all three of my kids. According to the website the message is for 4-10 years, but even my 12 year old sat down to watch the show.

I will say that the impression my kids first got from the DVD cover is that it was for “babies.” However once we started the show they were intrigued for sure.

The message sent within the Auto-B-Good movies is just wonderful. I love how they tell a story where character issues are addressed within the personal relationships the cars have with each other, and then they complete the show with a song about Jesus and how the character issue applies to their relationship with the Lord.

The message of the gospel is spelled out loud and clear within the Auto-B-Good show, specifically through the songs at the end of each show, and it is a message of love and sharing that love with others around you.

I give the Auto-B-Good series two thumbs up! Not even a day after watching the show my son was already asking to watch it again, so I think my kids give it two thumbs up too!

is a very beautifully put together Bible. I have honestly never seen a Bible quite like it.
