Lap Booking 101: Essential Supplies
June 2, 2008
Recently I came across this new thing called lap booking. Now I had seen it before and quite honestly I was a bit overwhelmed because I was trying to think of a way to incorporate it into an unschooling environment for my 10 year old, and for some reason I just couldn’t wrap my brain around that.
But now I am looking into the art of lap booking through a new set of eyes! Now I am trying to incorporate this lap booking thing with a preschool curriculum, and it all seems too easy.
Now there are definitely some things I think everyone should do to prepare for the lap booking journey, and one of those things is to make sure you have the basic supplies on hand before starting.
Below is a little list I made up after doing my research on what you will need to get started with lap booking:
-
Manila Folders - You will be using the Manila folders as the main structure of your lap book.
-
Construction Paper - This will be used to actually make the educational resources within your lap book.
-
Scissors - Used to cut things out.
-
Glue - Will be used to tie everything together.
-
Hole Puncher - This is a really great supply to have on hand in case any of the inserts within your lap book require it.
-
Stapler - Used for putting everything together, too, just like the glue.
-
Writing Equipment - Pens, pencils, markers.
So those are just some of the basic supplies you will need to get started. Now with each individual lap book you may need to purchase more supplies, but as we move along in this process I will definitely share my lap books I create and specific materials used.
Next week in lap booking 101 I will actually share some great links you should definitely bookmark when venturing into the lap booking adventure!
