Christian Movie Review: Iron Man

May 30, 2008

As a whole I give this movie TWO thumbs up, it is action packed, and in my humble opinion this movie has surpassed Superman on my list of favorite movies of all time!

However I will say that a lot of the violent parts of this movie were a bit too realistic for my taste and made me jump, and even sometimes cringe. Some may think, especially children, that just because this is a Marvel movie then it is OK for children to see, but I strongly disagree.

The movie is rated PG-13 but I would say even that rating might be pushing it just a bit. The violence really is where the downfall is with this movie. I wish they would have cut out the scenes that have women in suggestive situations, and toned down the violence so that kids could enjoy this movie alongside their parents.

All in all I give this movie two thumbs up for date night purposes only. This movie is not very family friendly and I do not recommend children under the age of 15 years old to go see this movie.

Christian Movie Review: Speed Racer

May 30, 2008

All in all this movie was better than I or my husband had anticipated it being. I was very curious to see this movie because the previews made it look like so much fun! The graphics are great and the racing scenes will keep you on the edge of your seats! There was actually one racing scene where I asked my husband to go get some more popcorn and I actually saw him out the corner of my eye watching the end of the racing scene before leaving the theater to go get the popcorn, it’s really THAT good!

As far as family friendliness I would say this movie is great for the older kids - school aged, tweens, and teens. Younger children though may not really have much of interest in the movie, although the graphics might keep their interest because it is very bright and colorful.

This movie is rated PG for violence, language, and dressing of the women. I think the way the women were dressed made me upset rather than the violence, yes the cars were exploding, but I have a problem with seeing women wearing daisy dukes with their butt cheeks hanging out and I have a real problem with my daughters seeing this as well. So I didn’t care for how the women were dressed, nor did I care too much for the language either.

But all in all this movie is great for date night!
